Volcano Road
Thousand Miles Road

If you are asked to walk a Thousand Miles, will you do it? In today technology, if you travel in a vehicle, probably takes about 10-15 hours, high speed train, 5-8 hours and aeroplane, about 2 hours. So why do we have to walk? Right?

The point here is not to walk physically but rather, will you talk the walk to achieve your heart desire or goal? Success in life very much depend on our will to walk the Single step even though we are not fully. Each step we take is a step nearer to our goal. If we wait for perfect time and situation, we will never take than first step.

Have you heard of the story of Rich Monk Poor Monk. Not the rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert t. Kiyosaki.. The story goes like this,

In ancient China, there was a Rich Monk and a Poor Monk. The rich Monk is rich because he taught in a big temple in the city where many ministers and dignities were his follower and willing done to his temple.  The Poor Monk was poor because he taught in small villages and helping the poor villagers to find peace of mind and overcome live   difficulty.

One day the poor monk went to the big temple and said to the Rich Monk, ” I will be going around the country to share the spread the teaching of Buddha and help more people to seek enlightenment.”

The Rich Monk asked, “What and who will you bring?”

The Poor Monk replied, ” Nothing, just my will to share the teaching of Buddha.”

“You must be insane,” said the Rich Monk, ” I have been trying to do this for years and with our temple financial status , I still cannot do it. What make you think you can?”

The poor Monk just smile, bow to the Rich Monk and started his journey of thousand miles, He visited many villages through the remote jungle and mountain and share the teaching and brought peace to countless villages and people. Along the way, he receive help from well wisher and followers. As days past, his followers grow bigger and bigger and words started to spread that ONE Monk had bring peace and joy and enlightenment to many people.

Years passed by, one day the Rich monk received an invitation to attend a preaching  by a very well respected monk in the capital city. When he attended the preaching, he was shocked to see that the famous monk was the Poor Monk. After the sermon, the Rich Monk asked the Poor Monk, “Brother, how do you did that? ” w

The Poor Monk replied ” Just a Will to achieve, my brother. As I go along, help and assist shall surface, when obstacles come, I earn to overcome it along the way. The more steps I walk and more preaching I do, I become better and obstacles become lesser. That is how I did it.”

The moral of the story is JUST DO IT. There is no  perfect time and situation.

A Single Step

Single Step

“The Journey of a Thousand Miles, begin with A Single Step!”  Lau Tzu.

What Excite You? What will be your answer when you are being ask on this question?

Well caught me for a while; to be honest, after so many years climbing the corporate ladder from the starting job of sorting mail, deliver mail, filing and do some simple admin work to now lead a team of employees and sales consultants to achieve company target for the region I am incharged; I suddenly realised I had lost the fire in my belly to achieve my passion in life.

Life has been good to me and I probably is like a frog bathing in a slow heating water, comfortably adjusting the environment that i am in, slow and quietly, when the water is boiled, I will also be cooked!

So again, what Excite You? That is a very person question and you do not have answer me here. But if you like, can leave a comment or note in the comment section or even leave a message below.

Remember the old days, when you were young, you were asked to do an essay title” My Ambition” or “What I want to do when I grow up?” Frankly, I cannot remember what I had written, it might have changes many times over the years. It doesn’t matter what you have written before but what is important here is

“What are you writing today for the rest of your life?”   It can be a small or  noble goal like

  1. Providing a good tertiary education for your children.
  2. Have a holiday with your love one every year.
  3. Visit the all the Seven Wonders of the world
  4. Set up a Foundation to help the needies
  5. Write a and publish a book
  6. etc étc etc ….

Journey of Thousand Miles Begins with a Single Step

What ever your goal may be, you need to ACT. and Another Robbin said “ To be Massively Successful, you need  have Massive Action.”  Your massive action starts with one very small step as

“The Journey of a Thousand Miles, begin with A Single Step!”  Lau Tzu.

The photo was taken recently at the entrance to the lift of a 5 Star hotel. The quotation from Lu Tzu was projected to the wall, each time I walk toward the lift, I look at the quotation and pause and think on not the single step but the thousand miles;

  1. What will that thousand miles lead me to?
  2. What direction of life that I am heading now?
  3. Is that the right direction that I am heading? if not
  4. Where is the true direction?
  5. What Single step I need to go?

I may had mine, i said may because the direction is set and still adjusting, what is Yours?
